Beau LOves creates quirky unisex clothes that are adventurous, fun, and very importantly all made with love in the UK. I chatted to founder Faye Wilde to find out more…
What inspired you to start Beau Loves?
I’d done every job under the sun for every womenswear design house I could get into, then Beau, my little boy was born and everything changed. Children’s wear just seemed like the logical next step after having a year out so Beau LOves was born and I LOVE it. Kids wear is sooo much fun!
Every collection is inspired by my boy Beau and what he loves. It’s that simple really. He will say something or pick something up and it will be a light bulb moment for me and I’ll start sketching.
What materials do you use and where do you manufacture?
I try to stick with cotton based fabrics, the softer the better really but a couple of fun fabrics have also crept in like the gold leggings. They seem to have been a winner with buyers and everyone I’ve shown them to… including Beau!
Manufacturing is something that I am very passionate about and I have everything made and printed in the UK. With this current season we are now having 80% of all our fabrics milled/made/woven in mills in the UK. It’s not easy finding manufacturers who are willing to do this for you and it’s not an easy road to take, but I have experience in womenswear so I know where to look. It’s fantastic using craftsmanship that is still alive and kicking, right here under our noses in the UK.
Where are you stocked?
We have been very lucky and now have over 70 stockist worldwide. Also Beau LOves will be in Selfridges as of August which I am extremely excited about.
What is your favourite children’s book?
Well the books that Beau gets me to read to him time, after time, after time, are Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, Chicken Soup and Rice: A Book of Months by Maurice Sendak and Iggy Peck, Architect by Andrea Beaty and David Roberts.
Do you have any exciting plans for the future?
Just to keep growing Beau LOves… and enjoying wherever it takes me!
